A Cop Recues Kidnapped Malaysian
CHENNAI: Indian police rescued a Malaysian businessman, believed to have been kidnapped last week, and arrested three Indian nationals linked to the crime.
Insp Jayasekar Fernando, of Neelangarai police station here, said the victim was whisked away in a car from Mayajal Resort in Neelangarai, where he usually stayed during his business trips.
“We have arrested three suspects while another suspect is still at large, believed to have fled to Kuala Lumpur.
“He is believed to have masterminded the kidnapping.
“He owns a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur,” Insp Fernando said.
According to police, the businessman was to have returned to Malaysia on Wednesday, but when he did not show up, his wife brought it to the attention of the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 42-year-old Malaysian allegedly owed money to the suspects, all from Triplicane, in this city, and some misunderstanding over repayment had led to the abduction, police said.
“The businessman was unharmed when police rescued him.
“It is unclear whether he is still in India or has returned to Malaysia,” added Insp Fernando. – Bernama
