Kuwait bans film “God Tusi Great Ho”
The Ministry of Information on Tuesday banned Bollywood movie “God Tusi Great Ho,” — which in Hindi means God You are Great — as the film reportedly violates teachings of Islam, an official at the Kuwait National Cinema Company (KNCC) told the Arab Times. This came after authorities in Dubai stopped screening of the said film last week, even as the movie is believed to be a remake of Hollywood blockbuster “Bruce Almighty” which was banned by some GCC countries, including Kuwait. The “Kingdom” was also banned in Kuwait last year as it reportedly portrays Saudi authorities in a negative light. “We received a lot of calls from cine-goers as to why the film was not being screened in Kuwait,” the official at KNCC added.
“God Tusi Great Ho,” which was released last week, stars Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan who plays god and the movie is believed to be doing well at the box office. Pirated copies of “God” are already being sold in Kuwait.
